What a Card!
Are you as happy to see Friday as I am??!! For some reason, this has been such a long week! But we have some nice weather ahead and temps in the 70's so I am hoping we can get out of the house this weekend and enjoy Spring, before it turns into 90 degree temps and 100% humidity!!
I thought I would pop in today and share two cards I created. One with a mix of Color Me Happy and Uncharted Waters from Glitz Design and the other using The Good Life collection from Fancy Pants. I am still no master card maker, but I thought these actually turned out cute...and I am enjoying making cards.
I rounded the corners on both of these cards. I am still experimenting with shapes and sizes, and trying to figure out what I like best. I really loved the way those little fussy cut flowers from The Good Life collection turned out. I am usually happy with anything I can add to the tip of a toothpick on my layouts or projects!

My {creative} Space!
Have you ever thought about photographing and scrapbooking the rooms in your home? How about your favorite room...kitchen, tv room, family room? Or what about your children's rooms or play room? Photographing rooms in your home is a great way to tell the story of your family and Get It Scrapped! is sharing an article today for Scrapbooking the Rooms in Your Home.
I am so thankful to have a designated Scrapbook area in my home. I recently rearranged a few things in my scrap area, so I thought it would be the perfect time to take a few photos. I think the photos you take of the rooms in your home, should be determined by the idea you want to convey on your layout. If you are looking for an every day approach to your layout, you may want to leave the room as is...meaning, if it's a mess, with laundry, toys, or whatever all over the place, then leave it that way for your photo. If you are looking to tell a different story, you may want to clean things up a bit, so as not to distract from what you want your photos to say. There were several things I incorporated into this layout, to pick up the theme of my photos. First, I knew I wanted to incorporate a lot of bright colors on this page, because when I looked at the photos, that was one of the first things I noticed. I chose papers and Washi Tapes that would coordinate with the colors in my photos. I also wanted to use some misting, which is one of my favorite techniques to play around with in my Scrapbook area. I used the mist with a mask, sprayed a lighter color over the White background, and dropped some darker splatters over the page. I also wanted to incorporate a lot of the supplies, that I keep in my Scrapbook area, so I used Washi Tape, Baker's Twine, Stickers, Enamel Dots, Flair Buttons, Thickers, Spray Mists, a Mask, my Black Sharpie, and the fun Binder Clip.

The Write Stuff
Some of us have a love/hate relationship with Journaling on our layouts. Whether you are on the love side or the hate side, I think it is still an important part of our memory keeping. I am somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Most of the time, I like to add a little journaling somewhere on the page, but a lot of times I find it hard to fit the "story" in the spot I reserve for my journaling. And I am not a big journaler, meaning I don't like to use a lot of space on my layouts to journal. So yes, it can cause distress sometimes when I am putting the memory behind my layout into words. Here's a look at what I decided to do for this assignment:
YIKES, a self photo!! :) I am usually behind the camera, not in front of it, but I snapped this photo for the last day in January for the Photo a Day challenge. I used the Cameo cut file, to create a spot for my journaling, to create visual interest and draw the eye to the journaling. The cut file brings the arrows towards the target area in the center, so I thought it would work well as the spot for my journaling. Once I cut the arrow background, I created a smaller oval shape to cut on the Cameo. I decided just to add my handwriting to the journaling spot, for a more personal touch, rather than do printed journaling.

We Are Family
Now that I have that song stuck in your head, let's take a look at my newest layout using the March Kit from Artful Delight.
The mix of the new Teresa Collins collections has been so fun to work with, in this Kit. I really love the colors and Leeanne include a lot of great embellishments in this month's Kit. And I have also had a lot of fun using the stamp set included in the Kit. The only extra I used for the layout, is the wood veneer Chevron arrows from Studio Calico. I also used one of the sketches from Creative Scrappers newest eBook, Creating with Sketches Volume 2.

I HAVE...

a CARD (of all things!!)...
up today at The Paper Bakery using the February Kits "Our Day" and "Days of the Week". For those of you who know me or follow me, you know I love my layouts, so having a Card up is a pretty big deal!! :) And I have to admit I am really liking Cards...shocker, I know!! Going Green!
It's March and that means it time for the luck of the Irish and lots of Green! And even if you don't celebrate St. Patrick's Day, you can still have fun incorporating the color Green into your next layout using some of your Love My Tapes Washi Tape! I added a lot of Green to my layout, by using the Vine patterned Washi Tape from Love My Tapes, Green Patterned Paper from Pebbles Inc., and Chartreuse Color Shine from Heidi Swapp.
I used the Vine Washi Tape, to create a "shelf" on my layout, which is basically a line or border across your page that doesn't go all the way from end to end, that you use as an anchor for your photos and embellishments. And, of course, I had to sneak in a little strip of my favorite Washi...the Teal diagonal stripe!!
These photos of our oldest daughter bring back memories of when I was a little girl. I would sit outside in the clover beds for hours, picking the little white "flowers", making a slit in the stem and then weaving them together to make a "fairy" wreath for my hair. :) I just had to snap these photos of her looking through the clovers and it just happened to be a perfect fit for the Green theme. :)
And I also took a little inspiration from Dear Lizzy with the flag on this layout. She has some awesome tissue paper flags with her new lines and I wanted to give it a try with the Gold polka dot vellum paper from American Crafts. These might be showing up on a lot more future layouts!!
