The Perfect Match...Chevrons & Washi!

Hi Bloggy friends!  I'm back today with a new layout featuring some of my favorite Washi Tapes from Love My Tapes.  You know, I just can't get enough of that Teal diagonal striped Washi Tape!!  I thought it would be fun this week, to use my tapes to create some Chevrons for my layout...what a great way to combine two of your favorite things!!

To create the larger Chevron pieces, I used several of the tapes and placed them over White cardstock.  Then I used my Cameo to cut out the Chevron shapes.  I also added a few smaller Chevrons, with just the Washi Tape folded over itself, to create a triangle.  Then I cut the triangle to a point in the center, to create the Chevron shape rather than a triangle shape.  And I used one more strip of the Teal tape, to hold down the Vellum paper that I cut the fringe pattern on.  It worked perfectly to secure the Vellum, without having to worry about any adhesive showing through the transparent Vellum!

It's always fun to find new ways to use your Washi Tapes and revisit some of your favorite past uses!!

Everything but the Kitchen Sink...

Yep, that's pretty much what I put on my last layout for this month, using the February Kit from Artful Delight!  I put together a hodge podge of all of the products in this one and it is kind of one of those layouts that I can't decide if I love it or if I hate it!!  :)  I think the bow/ribbon might be throwing me off, because it's not something I normally use on my layouts, but hey, it's always fun to try something different!  But overall, I am happy with the page and I liked the layering and the way the title turned out.

I used several of the kraft tags, included in the kit.  I thought the oval shaped tag with the scalloped edge, would work perfectly as a little sun element peeking out from behind my cloud.  And I layered two of the other tags, to use as my journaling spot and the base for some layering with the butterfly sticker and the flowers that are included in the Kit.

Since this was the last page with this month's Kit, I thought it would be fun to post the other pages I did for February, just to get a look at the variety you can get from the Artful Delight Kits!

Creative Scrappers Sketch #249

Today, is a little bit of a bitter-sweet reveal at Creative Scrappers...this is my last "official" layout for my Term for the Team.  Kristine is planning to take a break with the Creative Scrappers Blog until the Fall, and I will definitely miss the amazing sketches from our Sketch Designers.  I am hoping and crossing my fingers, that when Kristine starts things back in the Fall, that I will have the opportunity to serve on this awesome Team again.  I have loved creating with the CS sketches and working with the other Ladies on this Team!

But, even though this is my last official page for Team A, things aren't quite over just yet...there will be a big reveal next week for Sketch #250 and Kristine is publishing a second edition Sketch Book, that you are definitely going to want to pre-order, which you can do HERE!   Now, with all of that said...let's get to this week's reveal!

Heather Leopard created this month's sketch and it is really fabulous!  I loved the layering she created on the sketch.  It was perfect for using my 6x6 5th & Frolic paper pad.  This was a first for me, because the 6x6 papers were the only patterned paper I worked with on this layout.  I am a 12x12 girl and I usually have to use the 12x12 paper somewhere on my page...the full background or some strips at the top and bottom of the page.  Unfortunately, I only have the 5th & Frolic in 6x6, so I gave myself a challenge to use it as my only patterned paper.  White cardstock made a perfect background for these patterns and colors and then I threw in a little modeling paste and some Mister Huey's Spray Mist from Studio Calico.

Now, don't miss your chance to play along with the last few sketches for this month!  Come over to Creative Scrappers and link up with us, for the chance to win from our February Sponsor Scrapbook and Cards Today.

Let's Party Mini Album

Happy Saturday Peeps!  Hope you are looking forward to a good weekend!  We are supposed to have some rain moving in, so I think it will be a perfect time to stay in and do some crafting.  :)  Speaking of crafting, I have a fun new project to share with you using the February Project Kit "Our Day", mixed with the February Kit "Days of the Week" from The Paper BakeryThis month's Project Kit includes a great little 4x6 Mini Album from Farmhouse Paper Co.  I received both of the Kits for this month from Sarah, and she said..."have fun mixing the two"... and that's exactly what I did!  :)  I used a little bit of everything from the Kits in this Mini Album...MME papers, Stick Pins, Custom Flair Buttons, Sequins, Doilies, Thickers, Sticker Alphas, Washi Tape...you name it, it's in there!  So here's a look at the Mini all finished up:

I wanted to keep my photo size consistent throughout the Mini, so I printed each one of them at 2.5x2.5.  This gave me plenty of room on each of the 4x6 pages to add a mix of patterned papers and various embellishments from the Kits.  You could work with several photo sizes for this album...square photos, like I used...or 3x4, 3.5x5, or all the way up to 4x6.  You could add a full 4x6 photo to one side of the mini and then use the opposing page for your paper, embellishments and journaling.

One of my faves in the Kits, has to be the Custom Flair Buttons, that Sarah has started to add to the Shop.  There are several included in the Kit and she also has packs for sale in the Shop.

And, if you are a Kit subscriber, you will receive an awesome page of Printables with this month's Kit!

If you're looking for a Kit Club, The Paper Bakery could be just the place for you!  Sarah gave us a run down on some of the upcoming Kits and they will be A-MAZ-ING!!  Lots of yummy stuff over the next few months.  And you definitely can't go wrong with Custom Flair in your Kit and Custom Printables or Silhouette Cuts rotated each month!!

Say Cheese!

I have been about to pop, waiting to share today's layout for the Representational Motif article at Get It Scrapped!  I have to say, that it's my favorite layout that I've done so far for one of our assignments, and this was a fun one.  Representational Motif can be used on your pages to add texture and interest, and it usually gives a clue to the theme behind your layout.

I love taking photos of my kids, and even though they are pretty good about it...most of the time, there are those other times, that I never know what kind of pose/face I might get!!  When thinking of the design of this page, I wanted it to be more about the results of taking the photos, rather than the event or where we were at the time.  I loved that I had one adorable, smiley photo and then another silly photo, in the same pose.  There was a great Camera patterned paper included in the Studio Calico Murray Hill kit, that I wanted to use for this page. I debated using the sheet as is, but then decided to fussy cut several of the Cameras and then arrange them under my photos.  I spread the fussy cut Cameras out, to leave room for Wood Veneer Cameras and enamel dots, which added some texture to my page.  I loved working with the Camera motif, because it immediately gives you an idea as to the theme of the page and it was a great pattern to mix with other colors and patterns.

If you want to find out a little more info on Representational Motif and how to use it on your next layout, make sure you head over to Get It Scrapped!, and see how the other Creative Team members interpreted this assignment.

The Color of Love

Even though Valentine's Day has come and gone, I'm sure you have some great photos from the Holiday, that you are ready to get on a layout.  And, if you're like me, when you think of Valentine's Day, you probably think of the colors Pink and Red!  Well, that just happens to be our challenge this month at Love My Tapes.  You can play along with us this month for the chance to win some awesome Love My Tapes goodies!  If you missed the details of the challenge, check them out HERE.

Tina did a totally adorable layout, to start off this month's challenge and I had the chance to play along too.  Here is what I came up with for the Pink and Red challenge:

I chose a light Pink background paper from one of my DCWV stacks and mixed in some Red heart patterned paper from Pebbles Inc.  Then I started accenting with Pink and Red embellishments and pulled in some White, Black, and Gray to add a little contrast to my page.  I used several of my Love My Tapes Washi's on this page, that were perfect with this color scheme.  Can you spot them?  I have the Pink Washi with the White doodle lines across two of my hearts, and it is also included as a border under my photo with the Pink & Red patterned Washi and the With Love Washi.  And I added one more of the Washi Tapes, that fit in perfectly with this theme...the heart pattern at the bottom of my page.

And, here are a few other fun facts about this layout...I incorporated a few non-scrappy supplies on this one.  I have discovered a little addiction to the coffee stirring sticks.  The ones on this layout, are some that I "picked up" on our visits to Krispy Kreme.  :)  I wanted to use them on this page and add the heart shapes to the top, for a fun embellishment on my layout.  And the glassine bag that they are inside of, came with one of my Kits from Paper Issues.  Cassie uses them to hold the little embellishments that are included in the Kits and they are perfect for saving and using on your layouts or projects.  And I have one more bit of packaging used on this page...the little "hello there" tag, was fussy cut from the Ormolu packaging.  It fit in perfectly with the Pink and Red challenge, so I just had to add it to my page!!

Supplies Used:  Patterned Paper:  DCWV, Pebbles Inc., & Studio Calico; Wood Veneers & Spray Mist:  Studio Calico; Washi Tape;  Love My Tapes:  Flair Buttons:  Ormolu; Stamps:  Maya Road; Ink:  Stampin' Up; Baker's Twine:  The Twinery; Embossing:  Sizzix Big Shot; Other:  Vellum & Silhouette Files

The Paper Bakery - The Full Reveal!

Hi faithful Readers!  :)  Just wanted to pop in for a quick post, sharing the full reveal of my first layout for The Paper Bakery.  I was up with my first post as one of the new DT members, this past Saturday, and I shared a Tag I created with the February Kit "Days of the Week" and the February Project Kit "Our Day".  And I gave a little tease of the layout I created, but I shared the full page on The Paper Bakery Blog.  So, in case you missed it, here it is...

If you would like to check out a little more info. about how this layout came together, you can visit my POST on The Paper Bakery Blog.  I also decided to enter my layout in the MME/Gossamer Blue Guest Designer contest, since I got to play with some of the new MME Unforgettable collection.  There is definitely some stiff competition, and I am not expecting to be chosen at all, but I thought it would be fun to give it a go and enter anyway!!  :)
