A Flair for Buttons | Live for the Moment

Today, I'm sharing my last Design Team layout for A Flair for Buttons.  I have loved being a part of the team and designing with the gorgeous flair from the shop.  I still have plenty of flair on hand, so you'll still be seeing it on my layouts.

Some of my all time favorite Flair Buttons in the AFFB shop, are the black & white designs.  You can use them with any project, because black & white goes with everything!  On my layout today, I used two black & white flair from the Shop, to add a contrasting look with the Dream On collection from Pinkfresh Studio.  I love the way the dark flair buttons contrast with the lighter colors in the collection.

Most of my layouts usually have a much busier background, but I wanted to try something different on this layout.  I chose one of the patterned papers from the Dream On collection and fussy cut several of the square/rectangle shapes to place around my photo.  I wanted a clean look with a lot of white space on this layout, to really bring out the photo.

Once I had all of the fussy cut pieces arranged around the photo, I machine stitched around each one.  Then I placed my two flair buttons.  I wanted them on opposite sides of the photo and a little offset from each other.  I liked the look of having one flair button with a phrase and a second flair button with a pattern.  After adding the flair, I used a mix of embellishments from the Dream On collection to finish the layout.

Be sure to follow A Flair for Buttons!  You can find them on Instagram and follow the AFFB Blog for inspiration from the Design Team.

Crate Paper | Sight Seeing

The new Oasis collection from Crate Paper is so much fun!  I've been waiting for the opportunity to use it, and I thought it would be perfect with one of the photos from a recent trip to Texas.  When I'm on vacation, I like to snap photos of the scenery as well as the humans.  There are always interesting buildings and landscapes to photograph when you're somewhere new.

The wood grain pattern on the backside of the Spring Break patterned paper is one of my favorites in the collection.  I love how it creates several geometric shapes...triangles, squares and diamonds to be exact.  I decided to tilt my photo and title along the diagonal line in the center of the paper, to add some interest to the layout.

I used a mix of embellishments from the Ephemera Pack, Chipboard Sheet, Buttons and Puffy Stickers to embellish the layout.  I also love the word phrase stickers from the Sticker sheet, so I also layered several of those on the layout.  The tilted look of the photo and title with the other horizontal embellishments on the layout, really create a fun look.

I finished the layout with a bit of machine stitching.  I always love the texture that stitching adds to a layout, whether it's a little or a lot!

If you haven't had a chance to grab the Oasis collection, it's now available in stores.  You can find it now, in the Scrapbook.com store!

A Flair For Buttons | Life Together

The great thing about love themed products, is that they can be use all year long!  I have a lot of love themed flair buttons in my stash, so I thought it would be fun to pair them with the Crate Paper Heart Day collection for today's layout.  The flair I used on my layout are all from different sets, but they coordinate perfectly together...Chalkboard Valentines 2 Flair, XOXO Flair and Selfie Flair.  You can never go wrong with mixing and matching flair from the A Flair for Buttons Shop!

I started with the idea of creating a large fringe heart for the layout, and I wanted to use the flair buttons in clusters around the photo for dimension and texture.  I have a new Process Video to go along with the layout, showing how I created the fringe heart.

I love that the Red and Black color scheme on the flair buttons blends in perfectly with the Heart Day collection.  They look like they were made for each other!  It's fun to mix flair buttons into clusters, because it gives the eye a lot of fun things to look at on your layout.

This was a fun design and the right flair buttons made the layout come together so easily.  You can visit the Shop to check out the sets I used and make sure you browse through for any other designs that might catch your eye!

Crate Paper | Valentine's Decor

Hello!  I'm stopping in to share some Crate Paper Heart Day home decor with you!  Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and if you’re looking for a last-minute idea, for a cute addition to your Valentine’s Day décor, then this is it! Local craft stores always carry items that can be altered and I picked up this cute wooden house from Target. I love the different sections it has, and they are perfect for embellishing with the Heart Day collection!

I started with a plain white sheet of copy paper, and placed it over the bottom right section of the wooden house. I could see the outline of the open spot, so I placed a small mark with my pencil on the paper. Next I used my ruler to draw the lines and cut along them with my scissors. Then I layered it over the patterned paper I wanted to use, and it worked as a guide for cutting the perfect shape to fit inside the section. I added a bit of adhesive to the back of my paper and then placed it in the coordinating section. I repeated this process, until I had each section filled with a different patterned paper.

Next up, came the embellishing! I used a mix of embellishments from the Heart Day collection to decorate the wooden house. I placed the large chipboard love banner and the fringe heart on the outside of the house, to create dimension and play up the 3D effect of the wooden house. Then I grabbed a few embellishments from the Ephemera Pack and the Chipboard sheet to add to several of the sections. I also included some phrase stickers from the collection to emphasize the Valentine’s theme of the home décor piece.

This is such an easy project, and definitely a cute addition to any Valentine’s Décor. You can easily mix and match the Heart Day collection to create your own unique look!

Altenew | Insta Love

Hi there everyone!  I have my first Altenew Design Team project to share with you! I wanted to work with the new Halftone Circles Stamp Set on this layout, and combine it with hand-stitching.  I paired my stamps and stitching with the beautiful Reflection Scrapbook Kit, to get the look I wanted on today’s layout.

I love to create interesting backgrounds on my layouts, and the mix of circle sizes in the Halftone Circles stamp set, made it easy to modify the patterned paper I chose from the Reflection Scrapbook Kit.  The hand-stitching adds another layer of dimension and texture to the layout.

I have a video tutorial to go along with my layout, showing all of the steps I took to create the layout.  I’ll show you how I stamped my images and got the perfect hand-stitched circle around each one.  You can watch the video here or on the Altenew YouTube Channel.

Mixing your stamps with other techniques is a great way to create unique looks on your projects.  You could try this idea on a hand-made card, also.  If you’re working with embroidery floss for stitching with your stamps, look for colors that coordinate with the products and inks you are using on your project.  This will help to add a cohesive look to your project.

If you're new to Altenew, make sure you visit the Shop to check out all of the amazing products!
