Hip Kit Club | Hello, Fall Is My Favorite

Hopefully I haven't scared you away with my slight Fall obsession!!  :)  HA!  I just can't help myself, when it comes to Fall layouts.  But never fear...even though my layout today for Hip Kit Club has a Fall theme, my card has a totally different look!!

I wanted to add a little something extra to the Elle's Studio leaf patterned paper, included in the October 2014 Main Kit, without covering up much of the pattern. So I grabbed the Gelato from the October 2014 Stamp Add-On Kit, and decided to color in some of the leaves. Once I had my color on, I just smoothed it around using the tip of my finger. And I added a bit of machine stitching for some added texture, after I let the Gelato color dry for a bit. I also kept the design of my layout simple, to keep from covering the background paper. I wanted to create a large title...I'm all about the large titles! So I used the Story and Journal Thickers under my photo, and added the camera cork embellishment from the Elle's Studio Sycamore Lane Bits package.

I've been using a lot of my scraps from the October 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits, to create cards this month. But I decided to go for a totally different look on today's card and show you the versatility of the Kits! I pulled out the Red and Pink colors included in the Kit, to make a Love card. I've been wanting to use the wood grain frame from the Crate Paper ephemera pack and it ended up being a perfect contrast on my card. It was a little short, to fit under the Love You tag, so I cut it in half and I was able to make it a little longer, than the original size. I also love that wood grain chevron stamp from the Elle's Studio Stamp set, so I used it along with the stamp pad included in the October 2014 Stamp Add-On Kit, to add a little emphasis to my sentiment!

Hip Kit Club | Frightfully Fun

It's time to share a new layout and card for Hip Kit Club, using the October 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits!  I couldn't resist creating a couple of more Halloween projects, with the fun Halloween themed goodies included in this month's Kits!

 

If you're looking for a fun way to incorporate several photos or a lot of embellishments onto your page, then why not try a grid design! I wanted to use the awesome cards in the American Crafts Haunted Hollow Bits pack, and thought a grid design, would be the perfect way to add them to my layout. I also wanted to use several of the patterned papers, so I cut 4.5x4.5 inch squares, to use as my grid. I wanted the background to be simple, so I used the dark Gray cardstock from the Cardstock Add-On Kit. Once I had each of the squares in place, I stitched around each one with my sewing machine. And then I had plenty of room for adding my title, using the Journal Thickers and embellishing each of the patterned paper squares.

Scrap papers to the rescue! I just can't resist using my scraps, to create cards...especially since I can't bring myself to throw away any of the left over pieces in my Hip Kits each month! I used several left over strips from my Frightfully Fun layout on this card. I wanted a somewhat messy look, so once the strips of paper were in place, I added some Washi Tape over them and then added some zig zag stitching. The Journal Thickers worked perfectly for adding my sentiment, and I used the Jack-O-Lantern from the American Crafts Haunted Hollow Bits pack to add the finishing look to my card.

Hip Kit Club | Cute Little Pumpkin

I am having so much fun creating away with the October 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits from Hip Kit Club!  I am stopping in today, to share a new layout and card with you!  I love the versatility of the Kits!  You can create Fall/Autumn layouts, everyday layouts and even Halloween layouts...or cards in my case!

 

 

Sometimes when I am starting a layout, there is a paper or embellishment that catches my eye, and I decide to design my layout around it. The Crate Paper Full Heart patterned paper in the October 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits, caught my eye and gave me an idea for this layout. I cut out the I Love Everything About This card from the paper and designed the rest of my page around it. I liked that I could use it to create a long title, by adding the burlap Thickers and the Teresa Collins alpha stickers. And the Gold Thickers from the Story pack and cork embellishments from Elle's Studio, fit right in with the look I wanted to create on my page.

I created a fun Halloween card using some of the scrap pieces left over from my other projects. I tore the edges of my patterned paper and added them to the dark Gray cardstock from the Cardstock Add-On Kit. Then I added embellishments from the American Crafts Haunted Hollow collection, to another piece of scrap paper, as the focus of my card. And I added a bit of messy machine stitching to finish my card!

Hip Kit Club | Fall Captured

Today, I am stopping in to share my first layout and card for Hip Kit Club, using the October 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits!  So much yummy stuff in the October Kits!  Fall is my favorite season, so I have been looking forward to working with this awesome kit!!

 

I've been looking forward to using the cute Sycamore Lane collection from Elle's Studio, that's included in this month's Kit! I mixed in a little bit of Teresa Collins and Crate Paper also. And a Fall layout definitely needs leaves, so I cut some leaf shapes on my Cameo and then mixed in some of the cork pieces from the Sycamore Lane collection. The Gold Thicker words in this month's Kit are so fabulous, and I paired the word "captured" from the pack with the Black Journal Thickers, to layer my title over the photo. And then I finished my layout, by adding some stamping and a few of the Studio Calico Gold enamel dots!

After I finished my Fall Captured layout, I had an epiphany for using one of the negative leaf shapes on a card. I used it as a mask, along with the Gelato included in the October 2014 Stamp Kit. I placed the negative cut leaf shape on a square piece of White cardstock, and drew around the edges with the Gelato. I removed the leaf mask, and used my finger to spread the Gelato to the center of the leaf shape. Then I stamped a sentiment from the Sycamore Lane stamp set, in the center of the leaf shape. I embellished my card with the Studio Calico enamel dots and stickers from Teresa Collins.

Hip Kit Club | Shine Today

Wow!  It's hard to believe, that I've already reached the end of the September Kits from Hip Kit Club!  The October Hip Kit & Add-On Kits is on the way, but for now, I have a new layout and card to share with you, using the September Hip Kit & Add-On Kits!

If you ever wonder about my process for putting a layout together, I'll share a bit about it with you today. I usually like to scrapbook my most recent photos, so I either choose a specific photo or narrow them down. When I started this layout, I had a few photos in mind, but wanted to look through the patterned papers in the September 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits. I really loved the chevron pattern from the Crate Paper Notes & Things collection, so I decided to use it for my background. Then I grabbed the words "Shine" and "Today" from the Studio Calico wood veneer words, to use for my title. I placed the words in the center of the page, and liked the look of it. I decided I wanted a repeating photo, and wanted to place them down the line, where the chevron patterns intersected. I adhered my photos, and then removed the other loose pieces, to add some machine stitching. Then I went back and adhered the title, and placed two of the tags from the Notes & Things Ephemera Pack. And I always like to finish my layouts by adding embellishments, and stamping my date!

If you're in need of a quick masculine card, then look no further than your September 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits. I used the kraft cardstock from the Cardstock Add-On Kit, for the base of my card. And I paired the wood veneer fox from the Teresa Collins wood veneer pack with the chipboard talk bubble from the My Mind's Eye Market Street chipboard sheet. Before I add the fox and talk bubble, I used the wood grain washi tape, on the base of the card. To finish my card sentiment, I added several of the word stickers from the sticker sheets and stitched through them with my sewing machine.

Hip Kit Club | Fall Days

I hope you are getting a little taste of Fall, wherever you are!  We've had some great weather and temperatures lately...just wish it would stay like that all year round!  Since I am in the Fall spirit, I have a new layout to share with you today, using the September 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits from Hip Kit Club, with a Fall theme.

 

Fall is my favorite time of year, so I start snapping photos, as soon as the pumpkins come out! There are some great colors in the September 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits for creating a Fall page. I used the ombre cork side of the Crate Paper patterned paper for my background. Then I layered some fussy cut flowers, chipboard and tags behind my photo. I wanted to also make use of my Gelatos, so I colored over two of the wood veneers and used a wet paintbrush to smooth out the color. I finished my page, by cutting the Fall Days title from the Free Falling cut file from The Cut Shoppe and added some machine stitching for an extra touch of texture.

If you have friends or family going on an extended trip or kids going away to college, you can put together a quick card, with the September 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits. I used the Just Go sentiment from the Studio Calico wood veneer pack, and paired it with the Chipboard Globe from the MME Market Street Chipboard Element pack. I kept my embellishing simple and added a chipboard star, enamel dot, and arrow and star from the MME Metal Shapes pack. And I used a zig zag stitch at the top and bottom of my card, in Black, for a nice contrast.

Hip Kit Club | Explore Everyday

Today I'm stopping in to share a new layout and card for Hip Kit Club, using the September 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits!!

I love the look of an angled design, and actually did a similar look on one of my layouts for Hip Kit Club earlier in the year. But I find a diagonal striped paper, helps me get motivated with this type of design, rather than trying it on another type of paper. The Crate Paper patterned paper gave me guidelines for placing my photos and elements on the layout. I started my page, by adding the wood veneer word "Explore", from Studio Calico to the center of the page. Then my photos and embellishments fell into place from there. I also wanted to continue my diagonal lines, so I used some of the awesome Glitter Washi tape, included in the September 2014 Embellishment Kit.

Woodland animals always look adorable on projects, and there are lots of cute ones included in the September 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits! I wanted to use the Deer patterned paper from the Brighton Pier collection from Studio Calico on a card. And of course, it gives you a perfect sentiment to work with...You're a Deer! I arranged my title and chipboard heart embellishment around the Yellow deer, to add emphasis to the theme of my card. And I stitched through the alpha stickers, for an extra layer of texture!

Hip Kit Club | Hello, Hello Love

Thanks to my new September 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits from Hip Kit Club, I can now say that I have entered the world of Gelatos!  Yes, I'm a little late to the game, but wet mediums still slightly freak me out, because of crumpled, wrinkled paper.  But I loved the colors of the Faber Castell Gelatos, Kimberly included as the Color Add On Kit this month and I just couldn't resist trying them out for myself!

Since I am a beginner with Gelators, I went with a fairly easy technique, and drew several circles on my background paper using the Coral colored Gelato. Then I spritzed over my paper with water and used my finger to blend the color. I added the Teal Gelato to the center of the circle and repeated the same process. After my page was dry, I used a fine point Black pen to draw some messy circles around the Gelato color. I really had fun using the color in my background and I'm looking forward to using the Gelatos on more projects!

I still ran into problems with getting my page to flatten out for the photo.  I just can't figure out how these Mixed Media gurus get their pages to lay flat, after adding wet mediums!!  :)  Maybe one day I will master the trick!

I created this quick card, using only 5 products included in the September 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits. I love the Chipboard pieces from Teresa Collins, and I knew I wanted to use one of the large flowers, along with the sentiment, Love Life. My base is from the light Aqua cardstock included in the Cardstock add-on. I wanted to continue the floral theme, so I layered a piece of the Nine & Co. patterned paper from Teresa Collins over my card base. And my final two products were one of the tags from the Crate Paper Notes & Things tag pack and Enamel Dots from the My Mind's Eye Market Street collection.

Hip Kit Club | Say Hello...

The months fly by when you are creating with the awesome kits from Hip Kit Club!  I'm already at the end of the July Hip Kit & Add-On Kits!  But the good thing about the end, is that you know another awesome kit will be coming for the next month!  Here's my last layout and card, created with the July Kits!

I love to create big, bold titles on my layouts as a part of the page design! So the alpha options in the July 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits are right up my alley. Did you know, that you have FIVE alpha options in this month's Kit??!! The October Afternoon alphas include two styles, you also have Printshop and Typewriter Thickers from American Crafts, and an alpha and labels sticker sheet from Teresa Collins! I mixed letters from each of the alpha sets in with some of the October Afternoon Daily Flash embellishments to create a fun, graphic title on my layout!

 

Today I did something a little different with my card, by creating a shaped card! I found a cute banner design in the Silhouette store, and cut it on my cameo. The card was already sized to 4.25x11, so all I needed to do, was fold it, once it was cut. I added some layers using one of the Crate Paper Open Road frames and some of the chipboard embellishments from the Teresa Collins chipboard pack. And I love the little chipboard banner pieces...they fit right in, with my banner shaped card!

Hip Kit Club | Big Wheels Keep On Turnin'

I am in embellishment heaven, with the July Kits from Hip Kit Club!  Did you know you get the entire ephemera pack from Crate Paper's Open Road collection??!!  So awesome!  We don't travel a whole lot or too far...it's kind of expensive for a family of 5 and usually big time stressful with our 3 crazy kids...but we do get away for a little weekend or day trip every now and then.  I had so cute photos of our son from a trip to Birmingham back in April and knew the Open Road ephemera pack would be great to use on this layout!

 
I love the mix of travel embellishments in the July 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits, mixed with the neutral papers. It was the perfect mix for scrapping these photos of our son from a weekend trip, back in April. I loved that he was just hanging out in front of a train engine, at one of the locations we visited...just being a typical boy. I added several pieces from the Crate Paper Open Road ephemera pack and some of the great travel wood veneers from the Chic Tags Let's Go collection.

I really love the camera themed items included in the July 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits. The October Afternoon Daily Flash collection has some great chipboard camera pieces and fun patterned papers. I chose one of the chipboard cameras and paired it with one of the Crate Paper Open Road frames for my card. There's also great colors in this kit, that give a vintage vibe, and I love the mix of the Yellow, Orange, Light Blue and touch of Black!

It's hard to believe, that it's almost time to start working with the August 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits!!  It's going to be an amazing Kit, and it includes some of the new Shimelle collection from American Crafts and Brighton Pier from Studio Calico!  Here's a look at what's included:
