I was on the Crate Paper Blog earlier this week, with a fun Travel Mini Album. I love that the Cool Kid collection has a variety of uses, so I went with it for the album. I created my own base pages, which was really easy. I started by cutting White cardstock to 8x6 inches. This way, when I folded my album in half, the page sizes would be 4x6. I chose several patterned papers from the Cool Kid collection and cut them to the same size of the cardstock. I adhered the patterned paper to the front and back of the cardstock. Once I had each of the base pages completed, I folded each one in half. To secure the pages together, I machine stitched through the folded center of all of the pages, while holding them together.Since I wasn’t working with a specific travel themed collection, I decided to keep the embellishing to a minimum. For the front cover, I added an album title using the Play Thickers and fussy cut letters from the Superhero patterned paper. I also added one of the paper clip stars from the Embellishments pack for texture on the front cover.Inside the album, I added photos from a trip to Arizona. My photo sizes range from 2.25x2.25, 3x3 and 3x4. When I create a mini album, I like to layer embellishments right over my photos to add interest and save space on the pages. I had White space in several of the photos in the album, so this layering technique worked perfectly.I also wanted dimension throughout the album, so I used some of the thicker embellishments from the Cool Kid collection. I chose wood veneers, chipboard, stars and puffy stickers that went with the theme of the album. I like how these type of embellishments give a “chunky” look to the finished album!This type of mini album is perfect for documenting a day trip, vacation or staycation. And they are quick and easy to put together, so you could make additional albums for family and friends if you’re traveling together!

I do receive compensation and material product from Pink Paislee to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own.It's Travel week on the Pink Paislee Blog, and I kicked things off yesterday with a new layout using the Take Me Away collection by Paige Evans! I love that this collection can be used in a variety of ways. It’s perfect for everyday layouts, but also has a mix of travel elements that are perfect for documenting road trips, vacations, etc. I decided to go with the US map paper, but wasn’t sure at first how I wanted to use it… then inspiration hit!I had the idea to use the paper to document all of the places I’ve visited. I wanted the map as the full background, but thought it might be too busy and distract from my photo, title, and embellishments. To solve the problem, I added a sheet of vellum over the background paper to soften the look of the map. I stitched along the top of the page to secure the vellum to the background paper.Then I used a second sheet of the map paper and cut out the states and countries I’ve visited and layered them over the coordinating spot on the map background. This was a fun effect because the fussy cut states and countries stand out from the softer states in the background. It was a perfect way to highlight all of the places I’ve visited so far.Since the focus of the layout was on the places I’ve been, I chose a selfie for my photo and placed it in the negative space around the places I’ve visited. I had a lot of room left at the top of the page, so it was the perfect spot for a large title. I chose the Dr. Seuss quote, “Oh the Places You’ll Go” and varied the colors in the Carefree Thickers. To complete the layout, I created a visual triangle using the Take Me Away wood ephemera pieces and chipboard pieces.Make sure you stop by the Pink Paislee Blog all this week, for more travel inspiration from the Design Team!

This week the Crate Paper Design Team is sharing travel themed projects, and I kicked things off on the Blog yesterday! I got creative, since we are only working with the Bloom and Little You collections right now. I love it when you can use a collection that doesn't necessarily fit your theme to create a layout outside of the box!My first big decision in making the Bloom products work for my travel theme was the choice of patterned paper for my background. I decided to go with the Together 12x12 paper. I loved that it had motion with the design of the lines and that it’s a color that I don’t always work with. It’s fun to try new color schemes, and I thought the Green lines would be great for a travel page.I thought it would be fun to create a large title with a hand-cut letter look. But I cheated and instead of cutting the letters with scissors, I used my Silhouette Cameo. I decided to cut the title from the Blossom patterned paper, because I loved the contrast of the bright Pink against the Green lines in the background. And since there are no travel themed embellishments in the Bloom collection, I used my Cameo once again with the Bloom 6x6 paper pad to create state shapes for my layout. I embellished both of them with hand stitching, Thickers and stickers.
