M*A*S*H

Nope, we are not discussing the tv show M*A*S*H, but a fun new trend in the scrappy world!  Get It Scrapped! has a fun article up today for the Patterned Paper Mash-Up Trend.  This is a fun way to use contrasting patterns on your layouts.  You can go crazy and use patterns that are from completely different collections and it's a great way to put together your scraps and get them used up.

Mixing patterns on a layout, can be a great way to add interest and energy to your page, but it can also be intimidating for some of us.  If you want to work with a mix of patterns, but aren't sure where to start, choosing a coordinated collection can help take out some of the guesswork.  I used the Restoration collection from Crate Paper and incorporated 9 different patterns on my layout.  The colors still coordinate and work together, but there is a lot of visual interest on my page, because of the mix of patterns.  I also wanted to add in something a little unexpected, so I used two strips of the black & white polka dot Washi Tape and a pop of lime green, from the brads on the bicycle.

Come over to Get It Scrapped! to see some more awesome examples of the Patterned Paper Mash-Up trend!!

Supplies Used:  Patterned Paper:  Crate Paper; Butterfly Stickes, Spray Mist, Wood Veneer:  Studio Calico; Thickers:  Pebbles & American Crafts, SMASH Tape:  K&Company; Brads:  The Paper Studio; Punch:  Marvy; Other:  Beads & Sewing Pins

  8. Love the title and the stick pins. I'm one who is afraid to mash up that many patterns! LOL...more than three or four and it gets too scary for me! LOL (but I adore white space as an element).
