Pumpkin Poser

I was so excited to get some of the Harvest Lane collection from Simple Stories, and I knew that I wanted to use it on the layout that I was doing for this month's Step Class at ScrapFIT.  I thought it would be fun, to do a layered Banner for this month's class.  There is just something about Fall, that makes me want to create a Banner on my layouts!!  :)

I wanted to do a Banner, that had several textures, so I started out by just cutting some Banner shapes from the patterned paper.  Next I added some burlap pieces and some pleated trim.  I finished off my Banner, by adding wooden buttons to each end and a flower that I cut on the Expression.

And I also had a MEGA stress out moment over this page, because I decided to add some modeling paste.  Well, after I got it on there, I didn't like the results from the mask I used.  Plus, the mask apparently had some green or blue mist still on it, which blended with the modeling paste and turned it a light Mint color.  To say I was bummed is an understatement, because I really loved the page and at that point, I was just wishing that I would have left it alone.  I kind of gave up for a while and then decided to come back and grab a paper towel and dab some Dark Calico Mister Huey's over the paste.  I still was not 100% thrilled with the final result, but it did at least look a lot better than it did before.  The Brown gave it a little more distressed, Fall feel, so I decided I could live with that.  Sometimes, in the words of Tim Gunn, we have to make it work!!!

I hope you will come join in the Step Class this month!!  You have until November 21, to link up your project at ScrapFIT for the chance to be our next Featured FITGirl!!

  11. You know I love all your pages, so it is hard for me to pick favorites, but this is for sure right at the top for me! I love the aqua and orange combo, your banner, the modeling paste, and the cute photos! I know you feel like you messed up on the modeling paste, but I never would have guessed that! It really ties in the brown pleated ribbon so nicely! There isn't one thing I don't love about it!
