I am sad that the Studio Calico Color Theory class has reached an end! It was so much fun learning the techniques that Wilna Furstenberg shared each week. I'm a little behind on the last three lessons, because of so many things going on all at the same time, but I found time over the weekend to complete a layout for Lesson 6 Tints & Shades.The painting technique for this lesson, gave me a little more trouble than the others. My first mistake, was placing the paint too far and too low on the right hand side of the cardstock. I didn't like the placement at all. So once it dried, I decided to cut around the paint strokes and adhere it to another piece of cardstock, and get it in a better spot. And my painting technique didn't turn out exactly the way it was supposed to, but I still loved the end result of the layout.I have two lessons to finish up, and I can't wait to work on those. I am still squeezing in time for the fun Color Theory Class at Studio Calico, taught by Wilna Furstenberg! Today I wanted to stop in and share my layouts for Lessons 4 & 5. I'm going to keep it short and sweet, because it's been kind of crazy since last Wednesday. My grandmother's been in the hospital with pneumonia (hopefully being released sometime today), we celebrated my FIL's birthday this weekend, took the girls to see Cinderella, and now I have several mouth ulcers and I am not feeling too hot right now. Plus I think I might need at least 30 hours in the day, instead of 24!!First up is my layout for Lesson 4: Cool Colors. And my second layout, for Lesson 5: Achromatic Colors.

We are already up to Lesson 4 in the Studio Calico Color Theory class, taught by Wilna Furstenberg! I am up to date with Lesson 3 and wanted to share it with you today. In this lesson, we worked with Warm Colors, which is right up my alley because they are some of my favorite colors to work with! Yeah, see what I mean...Fall colors all mixed on one layout together = my favorite! I also used some of the cut files that Wilna created for the class, to embellish my page. She challenged us to use the Print & Cut feature on our Cameo, and that's how I created the title for my page. I really love the Print & Cut feature, but honestly I'm usually just too lazy to do it! I'm back today to share another layout for the Color Theory class at Studio Calico, taught by Wilna Furstenberg! The techniques in the class are so fun, and I'm looking forward to all of the upcoming lessons. Today's layout, used the painting technique of pairing complementary colors. I decided to use Blue and Orange, to create a masculine layout.I started my background, using the Color Theory Deja Blue Acrylic paint. I kept the darkest color at the top of my layout and then I kept mixing in White Acrylic paint for each new line of color, as I added it down the page. Since I wanted a lot of the painted background to be visible, I decided to use a vertical design down the center of the layout. All of my embellishments are various shades of Orange, and I cut the "Be You" title from White cardstock and then used Orange Acrylic paint to alter it.I'll be back soon with another layout for the class, once the next lesson goes up! Since I only dabble a little bit, and not very often, in Mixed Media, I thought it would be fun to sign up for the Color Theory class at Studio Calico, taught by Wilna Furstenberg. The first lesson was posted on Tuesday, and I couldn't wait to get started. I wanted to stop in today and share the layout, that I created using the Impasto technique and the primary color, Yellow.Yellow is my favorite color, so I just couldn't resist using it as my primary color. I used a Lemon Yellow acrylic paint, several different Yellow patterned papers and I dug through my embellishments and chose coordinating Yellow pieces. Since the Elle's Studio heart wood veneers were not colored, I used a bit of the same acrylic paint, to add the Yellow to them. The title is from one of the cut files that Wilna provided for the class, and I also used some of the flower cut files from the Funky Florals set, that is available in The Cut Shoppe!
