Chic Tags & Freckled Fawn Inspiration Week

All this week, the Chic Tags Team has been sharing some amazing inspiration, using the November Exclusive Kit along with the October Oh Deer Me Kit from Freckled Fawn.

   
The November Kit from Chic Tags is packed with so many awesome goodies and how yummy is that Gold polka dot Washi Tape in the Oh Deer Me Kit??!!  I used both kits to create a layout and a card.

 

I used the "Recess" patterned paper from the Schoolhouse collection for my background.  I decided to create a grid design to work in my two photos, along with layering some of the tags from the November Kit and a negative cut title cut on my Cameo.  The Oh Deer Me Kit was perfect for adding all of the fun embellishments to my page and I love the variety that's included in the Kit!

Next up, is a cute little card.

I cut a Talk Bubble background on White American Crafts cardstock and then backed it with that awesome Gold polka dot Washi Tape from the Oh Deer Me Kit.  And I must admit, that I am loving the fox trend and the Fox Flair buttons and wood veneers in the Oh Deer Me Kit are so fabulous!  I used the cute leaf stamp from the November Exclusive Kit, by stamping on White cardstock with Brown ink and then fussy cutting the leaves and arranging them in a scattered pattern on the card.

It's time for a new Color Challenge at Life.Paper.Scrapbook!  I loved working with this month's colors and they just happened to be a great match with the Cut & Paste collection from Amy Tangerine!

I used the large heart shape on a layout several weeks ago for Chic Tags and I liked it so much, that I decided to use it again!  This time, instead of using the full heart shape, I only used the outline.  Then I cut a piece of Vellum in a heart shape and added it to the heart outline.  This gave me a great pocket to add some confetti behind the heart shape.  And aren't those little pocket envelopes from the Cut & Paste collection so awesome??!!  I used the "Good Stuff" pocket in my design and it made a perfect spot to slip in my journaling.

Silhouette | Fall Is Here

I am back today, to share a fun new layout for Silhouette!  Did you know, that your Cameo makes scrapbooking budget friendly?  I used my Cameo to create 97% of my layout, using patterned papers that I already have in my stash.  You can create your own embellishments that are the perfect fit for your projects, by using a mix of shapes from the Silhouette Store.

I used several different cut files, including the cute layered owl, Fall is Here title and some different leaf shapes to embellish my layout.

Isn't the Owl too cute??!!  I just separated the layers  and cute each piece...body, eyes, chest piece and feet...using different patterned papers and then layered the finished cuts together.

I loved the Fall Is Here cut file from the store and it was a perfect title to go along with my photos.  I ungrouped the file and made the word "Is" a positive cut, instead of a negative cut.  After the title was cut, I embossed it with a dot pattern and then added pop dots under the word "Is" to give it dimension.

Once I finished all of my Cameo cuts and had everything in place, I just added a couple of things from my stash, such as buttons, wood veneers, a few tags and some acrylic paint.  Using my Cameo for most of the elements on my page was a great budget saver in the way of alphas for creating a title, chipboard or cardstock shapes, and expensive layered embellishments.

Crazy Monday Kits | Hello Happy & Hey Mickey!

Before I share my new layouts for Crazy Monday Scrapbook Kits, I wanted to mention the team up that is going on this week with Chic Tags and Freckled Fawn.  The designers have been sharing inspiration all this week and today, if you pop over to the Chic Tags Blog, you can see some projects from Malika Kelly and me, using the Chic Tags November Exclusive Kit and the Freckled Fawn Oh Deer Me Kit for October.  Here's a little sneak of one of my projects, that you will see on the Chic Tags Blog:

Now, onto my new layouts for Crazy Monday Scrapbook Kits!  Both of these layouts were created using the November Kit, Rock Star Stuff.

I have to admit, that I have a very hard time throwing away useable scraps.  If you are working with a Kit, it’s a good idea to keep those scraps stored with your Kit and next time you do a layout, find fun ways to use them on your page.  For this layout, I had several strips of paper that were left over from cutting some of the papers for my other pages.  I arranged the different strips under my photo and the text banner piece to create my page design.  This gave me a great base design, and then I used some of the stickers and embellishments from the Kit to finish my layout.

I knew I couldn’t create with this Kit, without doing a Disney layout, using the fun Say Cheese papers and sticker sheet from Simple Stories.  The sticker sheet included in the Kit, gives you great options for embellishing your pages.  I thought it would be fun to mix in a lot of the stickers in my page design and I added pop dots under several of them for some dimension.  I also used the Hot Diggity Studio Calico spray mist with a Chevron mask, that I had in my stash.  Once the mist was dry, I outlined the shapes with a fine point Black Sharpie for added definition.

Get It Scrapped | Giddy Up

Have you noticed a new trend...the Crossed Motif?  One of our assignments this month for Get It Scrapped!, was using a Crossed Motif in a substantial way.  At first I was a little intimidated by this assignment, but the more I thought about it, I realized it ended up making a great grid design and the four quadrants were perfect for adding photos and embellishments.

 
We recently attended the local county Fair, and our first stop on the rides, was the Carousel.  I wanted a center point for my Crossed Motif, so I stamped a circle grid in the background.  I used a ruler to draw my lines and then stitched with embroidery floss over them.  The quadrants from the Crossed Motif provided me with an area for my photo and title, to be placed across from one another, and then I used embellishments in the top and bottom quadrants to complete my design.

Why not give this look a try on your next layout?  You can go big and use the Crossed Motif as the design element for your layout or take a smaller approach and use the same idea for embellishing on your layout.

American Crafts November Gallery | Signs of Fall

Today I am stopping in to share a new layout for American Crafts, using the Autumn Crisp collection.  The colors in this collection are so awesome, including my favorites Brown, Yellow and Teal!  I love the saturated Fall colors, and I will admit that I had to force myself to use the wood grain pattern, because I really just want to hoard it!!

I really wanted this layout to focus on the beautiful Fall colors, so I mixed in as many as possible.  The "Willow" patterned paper was a perfect match with my daughter's shirt, so I started out by cutting a circle pattern on my Cameo and then layered the piece behind my photos.  The circle pattern was a great place to embellish, so I stitched a few of the circles with an Asterisk design, and then added some of the decorative buttons and puffy stickers to the center.  I did something a little bit different with my title on this page and turned it sideways.  I really liked the different look.  And since this was a Fall layout, I definitely needed some Fall leaves, which I cut on the Cameo and layered behind my title.

Thanks for stopping in today!  I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas, but also not wanting to rush the days.  This time of year seems to fly by!!  We are planning to decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving this year, and before that we are repainting our dining room, which is where we put our tree.  It is currently a really pretty Terra Cotta, which I love, but I have to say, that Christmas photos of the kids and the Christmas Tree and an Orange background, just don't make for great photos!  HA!  So I am looking forward to non-Orange Christmas photos this year!!

Silhouette | Merry & Bright

Yesterday, I shared my first Design Team post on the Silhouette Blog.  We teamed up with Hero Arts this week, and I was given an awesome Christmas tree file and a Hero Arts Christmas Stamp set to work with.  Here's a look at the layout I shared, and a tutorial for creating a title using the print and welding features.

 
Begin, by choosing your printable patterns from the Silhouette store.  Then you can use any of your fonts to type out your title.  I placed both words in my title, close together, to use the welding feature later on.  Once you have your title typed out, select the pattern fill box, which is located in the first set of tool boxes on the right hand side of Silhouette Studio.  Scroll through and select the pattern, that you want to use to fill the letters.  Now you will select print to send your filled pattern letters to your printer.  You do not have to use the Registration Marks for the print and cut process for this technique.



After your image has printed, place your paper on the Cameo mat and be sure it is lined up on the guide marks at the top and left hand side of the mat.  Now you can click your title and select the Offset tool.  Make sure your offset margin is enough to overlap and weld your words together.



Now that your title words are welded together, you can add in one of the shapes from the Silhouette store.  I used one of the Ampersand shapes as a part of my title.  Once it is in place, weld it with your title words.



You can remove the pattern filled words and now you are ready to send your paper and mat through the Cameo to cut your Offset of the title shape.



Now that you have your finished cut title, you can customize it even more by adding Glitter, or pop dots to add dimension on your page.  The possibilities are endless!
