I have a thing for words and phrases...whether it's a sticker, patterned paper or a Flair Button! So, it goes without saying, that I am a BIG fan of the Word Flair set, in the A Flair for Buttons Shop! I recently picked up the new Life Is Beautiful collection from Fancy Pants, and I knew I wanted to use a couple of the Word Flair buttons to go with it.
I decided to use one of the cut files from The Cut Shoppe, from the product swap with AFFB! I cut the flower wreath from White cardstock, fairly large, and then placed it on my background paper slightly off center. Then I started adding my Flair Buttons, embellishments and photo inside the flower wreath cut file!
The Life Is Beautiful collection comes with a set of flair, that is a little bit larger than the buttons in the AFFB Shop. I thought it would be fun to mix one of the Fancy Pants flair in with the Word Flair for a contrast of size. And I placed them on the layout in a visual triangle, to help guide the eye around the inside of the cut file.

Last year, I didn't get a lot of photos from Easter weekend onto layouts. This year, I'm trying to use some of the 2015 photos and make sure I document some of our 2016 photos, too. The Hello Spring Flair set is perfect for spring photos, and I still had several left over from the recent AFFB and The Cut Shoppe product swap. I chose three buttons from the set, and decided that the Happy Place collection from Fancy Pants would coordinate well with the Flair and the colors in my photo.
I chose the Happy Place collection based on the color scheme, even though I knew I didn't have a lot of embellishments left after using it so many times. So I decided to do a less is more look on this layout. The Flair Buttons from the Hello Spring set were the perfect substitute for the lack of embellishments I had to go with the collection, and I also mixed in several die cuts.
I wanted each of the Flair Buttons to have their own spot on the layout, so I welded several messy circle die cuts together to create the die cut background. The smallest circles on the die cut were just the right size for the Flair. And I made sure to adhere a contrasting patterned paper behind each of the small circles, so the Flair buttons would stand out.

I'm excited to be here today, to share my first post for A Flair for Buttons in 2016! I love creating large shapes on my layouts, and then filling them with stuff! It's always fun designing this type of layout. And what better embellishments to use for filling in space, than Flair Buttons! I created a large number 8 on my layout, with the Silhouette Cameo Sketch Pens, then added in a mix of embellishments, including flair from the Epic Flair set and the Minimal 2 Flair set.
I love the Black & White flair sets because they can coordinate with any collection. I used the Happy Place collection from Fancy Pants for this layout, and filled in the 8 with puffy stickers, Bits, wood veneers and my title. I placed the flair buttons first, to have them balanced inside the shape.
Once I had the inside of the number 8 filled with embellishments, I stitched around the outside with Black embroidery floss for a more defined shape. I placed my photo to the right of the shape. And I wanted to bring in a few more patterned papers, so I cut four different patterns from the Happy Place 6x6 paper pad, to add in each corner of the layout.

This week, I decided to incorporate one of the Hip Kit Freebie Friday cut files (coming to you in the Hip Kit FB Forum, this Friday) on my layout. I was inspired by the July 2015 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits, to create a Pinwheel designed cut file. The colors and patterns are perfect for your Summer layouts, and Summer always makes me think of Pinwheels. I started my layout, by cutting the Pinwheel cut file on my Silhouette Cameo, from the Crate Paper patterned paper included in the July 2015 Main Kit and the Paper Add-On Kit.
I wanted some color behind the cut file, so I backed it with the bright striped paper from Fancy Pants. Once my background was completed, I layered my photo over one of the cards in the Project Life Add-On Kit, and then decided to add my title along the circle shape of the cut file. I used the Crate Paper Thickers and the October Afternoon letter stickers from the Project Life Add-On Kit to create the title.
There are so many fun embellishments in the July Kit, and I couldn’t decide what to use, so I went with a little bit of everything! I love the Shimelle Cork Stickers from the July 2015 Embellishment Kit, and the Ampersand was perfect to add at the center of the Pinwheel. I also used two of the clouds from the Cork Stickers, to create a diagonal line, with the clouds and Ampersand. And the October Afternoon enamel dots are so fun, because of the mix of shapes. I alternated the dots, hearts and stars around the Ampersand at the center of the cut file. The Embellishment Kit also includes an October Afternoon phrase stamp, and I used it to stamp around the outside edges of the Pinwheel, in Black ink to add some contrast and define the outside lines of the cut file.

I'm still having a blast creating with the June 2015 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits from Hip Kit Club!This week, I knew I wanted to create a layout, using the fun Fancy Pants tags that are included in the June 2015 Embellishment Kit! The idea popped in my head, to use them for a background look, with the Simple Stories Summer Vibes paper, included in the June 2015 Main Kit and here's what I came up with!
I'm pretty sure I used a little bit of everything from the June Kits on this layout...everything but the kitchen sink. I pulled products from the June Main Kit, June Embellishment Kit and the June Project Life Kit. The FP tags and Project Life cards, created by Kim Watson this month, were perfect for creating a free form grid on my layout. And then the tags and PL Cards, gave me lots of room for using embellishments from this month's Kits.
I changed my photo to Black & White, because I wanted it to contrast all of the color from the tags and embellishments. This was a really fun design to put together, and it was quick and easy. And I've already created three other layouts with this month's Kits and still have a ton of product left, even after using so much of it on this layout! I think for my next layout, I'll see what I can do with the fun Crate Paper frames that are included in the June 2015 Main Kit!
Hi everyone! I’m back to share not one, but two layouts with you today! Did you know that you can download FREE Cut Files from the Hip Kit Club Member Forum on Facebook? Nicole Nowosad and I have created several Freebie Friday cut files, and you can come over and join the Member Forum for chatting, challenges, cut files and lots of fun! Today on the layouts I’m sharing with you, I used the Freebie Friday cut file I designed, that was added to the Member Forum last week. I wanted to use the same cut file on two layouts to create totally different designs.
Now, let's get to the layouts!
I wanted to use the cut file on this layout, as a large circle element. I used the Ellipse tool to add a circle around each of the rows of XOs, and then cut each one out on a different patterned paper included in the June 2015 Main Kit. Once the circles were finished cutting, I just used my scissors to snip each one in half and then placed them on the White cardstock from the June 2015 Cardstock Add-On, according to their size. I used the Kitten Thickers from the June 2015 Project Life Add-On, to create my title around the outer edge of the circles on the right hand side of the layout. Then I placed my photo strip to the left side of the title. I embellished with some of the fun Evalicious Wood Veneers included in the June 2015 Embellishment Kit and the Project Life Kit, and bits and pieces of the Crate Paper embellishments.
I also have a new Process Video to go along with this layout, and it shows a bit of both layouts at the beginning, and how I set up the cut file to create the two different pages.
I used a fun and easy technique for this layout. I cut the XO cut file from a piece of cardstock, and placed it over the Crate Paper patterned paper I wanted to use for my background. Once it was in place, I used it as a template to add the Xs and Os back into the negative spaces. I adhered each of the letters and then removed the cardstock piece. Before I added my photo and embellishments, I stitched around the circles with my sewing machine. I arranged the photo title and embellishments in a horizontal design on this layout, compared to the more vertical design on the first. I placed my photo to the right of the layout, and then added in some of the cute die cut flowers from the CP Poolside Ephemera pack included in the June 2015 Main Kit. I wanted to balance out the left side, so I used a large Fancy Pants tag from the Embellishment Kit, as a base for a few more embellishments.
I really love the variety that’s included in our Hip Kits every month! It’s fun to create so many different looks on your layouts, with products that all coordinate in the same Kit!

I'm back today, with my second layout in the Video Series, Zoned Out: Creating Outside Your Comfort Zone! This week I'm taking a look at Mixing Up Your Mixed Media. I love the look of Mixed Media, but it's not something I try a lot on my layouts. It can be time consuming, and of course, a little messy, but the results are usually pretty awesome. For today's layout, I decided to create my background using entirely Mixed Media, which is something I've only done a couple of times. But surprisingly it all went well, and I really loved the end result of my layout!

I’m here today to share my first layout with you, using the June 2015 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits! This month’s Kits are filled with lots of fun Summer and travel themed products! It was really hard to decided what I wanted to use first. I decided to go with a silly photo of our son, posing on the lifeguard stand at the beach. I already knew I wanted to get this photo on a layout, so it was a match made in heaven with the June Kits!
The Simple Stories patterned paper from their new Summer Vibes collection made a perfect background for my layout. I really loved the mix of color, and the ray and bokeh effect. I didn’t want to cover up a lot of the background paper, so I created a horizontal design across the page, using a mix of embellishments from the June Main Kit, Embellishment Kit and Project Life Kit. Lots of great goodies for layering!
And check out all of the Thickers, sticker letters and chipboard words that are in the Kits this month! I just knew I had to create a long title, using a mix of all of these options. I grabbed Thickers from the Main Kit & the Project Life Kit and the Elle’s Studio letter stickers and Crate Paper chipboard words from the Embellishment Kit, to create my title. I love the mix of different fonts and colors!
