UmWow Studio Guest Designer | True Love

Happy Monday!  I'm stopping in to share my second layout, for this month, as the Guest Designer with UmWow Studio!

What's more fun than cute chipboard shapes?...how about making a shape with the chipboard pieces! I received so many fun products from UmWow, and I wanted a way to use as many of the chipboard pieces as possible. So I thought it would be fun to use the pieces to create the word Love on my layout. I used the large arrow from the Chevron Arrow chipboard with a mix of the XOXO Mash chipboard.  

I love the look of the large title element. I decided to keep all of the chipboard natural, to create a neutral look that worked perfectly with the Documentary collection from Dear Lizzy.

UmWow Studio Guest Designer!

I was excited to receive some awesome UmWow Studio goodies from owner, DeeDee Catron!  She has so many fun designs in her shop!  I created two layouts with the chipboard pieces and Flair she sent to me, and I'm stopping in today to share my first layout.

I love a grid design! It's great for adding a whole lot of embellishments. I chose a grid design patterned paper from the Starshine collection from Shimelle, and I knew it would work perfectly for adding lots of the fun chipboard pieces from UmWowStudio. 

The Love Speech Bubbles were just the right sizes for the grids on the patterned paper. I placed all of the the chipboard pieces first, and then added my photo, title and more embellishments for each of the spaces on the grid design.

Pink Paislee | C'est La Vie Card Trio

Patterned paper is definitely my favorite scrapbooking supply!  I love the patterns, colors and all of the different ways you can use it!  Last week on the Pink Paislee Blog, I shared a Card Trio using a mix of patterned papers from the gorgeous C'est La Vie collection!

I repeated some of the patterns on each card, but I was able to create a different look on each of them, based on the design.  For the first card, I created a patchwork look.  This is a fun technique and can easily be used for a layout, too.  I cut squares from several of the C'est La Vie papers and then cut each one in half to create triangle shapes.  Then I pieced the triangle shapes together on my card base, alternating patterns and colors.  To complete the patchwork look, I added machine stitching.  And I finished the card with a few of the embellishments and alphas from C'est La Vie.

On the second card, I cut circles from the Brick patterned paper, using my Silhouette Cameo.  Then I placed the die cut piece over my card base, and added pop dots, to give it dimension.  I backed each of the circles with a different paper to bring more color and pattern to the card.  And the circles were perfect for adding a mix of embellishments from the C'est La Vie collection.

For the final card, I decided to use my Cameo once again, to cut heart shapes from three of the patterned papers.  This time I used a dark paper for the front of my card base, so the color from the patterned paper hearts would pop.  Then I machine stitched down each row of hearts, before adding embellishments from the collection. 

These ideas are great for cards, but don't be afraid to try them on your next layout, too!

Crate Paper | XOXO U

This week the Crate Paper Design Team has been sharing lovely layouts!  It is definitely easy to create a lovely layout, using the Bloom collection.  I also added in a few things from the Hello Love collection and the Little You collection.

Since the theme for this page was lovely layout, I wanted to add in the color Pink with hearts and flowers.  I started the layout by cutting a large heart from the Bloom polka dot paper.  Then I cut smaller hearts from the fringe patterned paper and added them inside the large heart shape.

I decided to place the photo at the center of the layout, and then cluster my embellishments and title around the photo.  I used the Petals Thickers and the Happy Thickers to create a long title on the layout.  And I also incorporated the glittery XOXO piece from the Ephemera pack.

I always like to include texture on my layouts, so I added machine and hand stitching to this page.  I love the mix of the two widths of thread.  And the wood veneers from the Hello Love collection also add in another great texture!

Hip Kit Club | Happy Life

We have so many great cut files with each month's Hip Kit Club kits!  And since I love cut files so much, I can't resist using them on all of my layouts!  Kim Watson created this cut file design and it is one of our Kit Subscriber exclusive cut files.  It's a perfect design for adding lots of patterned paper and embellishments!

I wanted to add different patterned papers from the February 2016 Main Kit to make the cut file pop, so I used the cute large polka dot paper from Crate Paper as my background. Once I had all of the spaces on the cut file filled, I placed it in the center of the layout. Then I used a mix of embellishments from the February 2016 Embellishment Kit and the February 2016 Project Life Kit, in the spaces of the cut file.

I used the cute Thickers from Amy Tangerine for my title. I love the contrast from the two Thickers colors! I finished the layout, with some hand stitching along the lines of the cut file, with Black embroidery floss.  
 

This was such a fun layout to put together, especially with Kim's awesome cut file!

A Flair for Buttons | Go See Do

Two words...Emoji Flair!!  It's seriously adorable, and you can find the set I used under Face Flair in the A Flair for Buttons Shop.  I initially started with three buttons from the Face Flair set, but decided to use one and then mix in a button from the XOXO Flair set and the Vintage America 2 Flair set.  The Yellow, Black and Red colors on the Flair Buttons fit perfectly with the Starshine collection from Shimelle.

A lot of times, I like to work with patterned papers that help kick start or guide the design of a layout.   I loved the large chevron shape on the Ranger patterned paper, and used it as my background.  I knew that the photo would work perfectly in the center of the chevron and then I added stickers, die cuts and embellishments along the lines of the chevron pattern.  I placed the three Flair Buttons around the layout, next to a few of the sticker sentiments.

I finished the layout, by adding the title above the chevron design.  I wanted it to stand out from the background, but still fit in with the lines of the chevron pattern.  I also added some texture to the layout with machine stitching.  And finally I stamped with the Shimelle Phrase Stamp along some of the lines and added the date to my layout with the Studio Calico Mega Date Stamp.

I probably sound like a broken record, but I love coordinating my Flair Buttons with the collections I have on hand.  There are so many sets available in the AFFB Shop, that you're sure to find just the right ones to go with the collections you have at home!

Pink Paislee | C'est La Vie Spiral Notebook

Pink Paislee has some fun office products available, with more to come!  I love the C'est La Vie Spiral Notebook, and you can personalize it, by adding your favorite products from the C'est La Vie collection.  I decided it would be a good idea to make a Notebook for our daughter.  She recently turned 10, so I used some photos from her birthday photo shoot and the C'est La Vie collection to decorate the notebook.

I started by embellishing each of the divider pages in the notebook.  I used a mix of embellishments from the C'est La Vie collection, as well as some of the patterned papers.  I added the photos to the first sheet of notebook paper, after each of the dividers.  I love that each of the notebook pages with the photos, looks like a mini scrapbook page.  I also added in some handwriting to add a fun look to the notebook.

I wanted a consistent look in the notebook, so I printed all of the photos in Black & White.  I changed the sizes of each of the photos though, to add variety in the notebook.  All of the other pages are blank, so my daughter can add whatever she wants to the pages.

All of the embellishments I used in the notebook are relatively flat, which keeps the notebook from being too bulky.  That leaves plenty of room for my daughter to fill the pages. 

A decorated notebook would make a great gift for a family member or friend!  And it's fun to customize it with your favorite Pink Paislee collection!
