Hip Kit Club | Puppy Love

I’m here today to share two new layouts with you, using the April 2015 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits.  You can probably tell from the title of my post, that these layouts will include some puppy photos!  I love that you can basically scrap any photo you want, with each month’s Hip Kit.  Every day photos are my favorites to scrap, and the Hip Kits always have just the right mix of products for creating the perfect layout.
 
First up, is a layout using a banner design across the top of the layout.

This layout was really easy to put together.  I used a mix of the patterned papers included in the April 2015 Main Kit, along with embellishments from the April 2015 Embellishment Kit.  I started out by cutting some of the patterned papers into banner shapes, and adding in a couple of tags from the Amy Tangerine Bits pack included in the Main Kit.  Once I had all of the papers in place, I stitched along the top with my sewing machine.  I created my title with a mix of Thickers from the Main Kit and the Embellishment Kit, and finished the layout by adding some chipboard pieces, epoxy stickers and word phrase stickers.

My second layout, is based on a previous design that I’ve worked with and loved!  There’s definitely not anything wrong with repeating a design, if you love it.  Like they say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

I knew I wanted to start out with the fun Claire patterned paper from Amy Tan, that’s included in the April 2015 Main Kit and the April 2015 Paper Add-On Kit.  I loved all of the colors it included, and knew it would work well with all of the embellishments in this month’s Kit.  I cut the paper to a point and added it to the White cardstock, that’s included in the April 2015 Cardstock Add-On Kit.  I also wanted to add another look to the patterned paper, so I stamped with the Diamond border stamp from the Elle’s Studio set, included in the April 2015 Color Add-On Kit.  Then I completed the layout design, by adding my photo to the center of the page, and angled my title along the lines of the patterned paper.

This month’s Kit is filled with lots of great colors, and I love how they all mix together!  If you didn’t get a chance to pick up the April Hip Kits, then make sure you stop by the Shop to get yours!

A Flair for Buttons | Dogs & Cats

Call us crazy, but we decided to adopt a new puppy this past Easter weekend!  It's been about 10 years, since we had a pet, so it's been a little chaotic around here.  But he seems to fit in perfectly, and of course, I've had to snap some photos of him for scrapbook layouts!  There are some really cute pet themed Flair Buttons in the A Flair for Buttons shop, but I didn't have any on hand...yet.  So I decided to look through my sets, and see what I could find, that would work with the look I was going for.  I chose a mix of the Black and White Words 1 Flair, Be Mine Flair, and Best Friends Flair.

The Flair Buttons had a Black, White and Red color scheme, so I pulled out the Fine & Dandy collection from Dear Lizzy, to go along with the flair.  And, the collection also had a dog embellishment!  I created a banner across the bottom of the layout, and thought it would be fun to add the Flair Buttons to the center of the circles.

So even if you don't have the exact theme of Flair on hand, for your next layout, you can still make the ones you have work for you.  But I'll definitely be picking up some of the cute pet sets that are in the Shop!

Journaling Bible Share

Happy Saturday everyone!  We are in for a rainy weekend and apparently a rainy week.  But I don't mind, because I would much rather it be rainy, than bright and hot!  :)  I wanted to pop in today, to share some of the new entries in my Journaling Bible.  I haven't had time to post them here, because things have just been so busy.  But I'm attempting to keep up with everything, even if I have to share it a little bit late!  :)

I won't go in to detail for each one of these, since I have so many to share in this one post.  Next time, I'll try to get them individually posted, so there won't be so many at one time.  

Some short notes to share:  

* The first two entries from Exodus and Matthew were sermons from a couple of churches that we've recently visited.  And we have decided to move from our current church to 3 Circle Church (the first image is from this new church, and it was a series on the Names of God).

* The next two entries were created, based on the Easter story.  The double sided entry, was created based on the Palm Sunday sermon.  He is not here, He is Risen was created, just based on reading over the Crucifixion, Burial and Resurrection.  I love how everything on that single page encompasses everything that Jesus did for us.

* I was inspired to create the 2 Corinthians entry, when I received the Illustrated Faith Newsletter, which included the Grace Alone card.  I printed the card on Vellum, and used some Washi Tape and my tiny attacher to adhere it to the page.  Even though it is layered over the verses on the left hand column, I can easily lift it up, and still see the scriptures.

Hip Kit Club | My Happy Place

I’m stopping in today to share my first layout with the April 2015 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits!  The colors in this month’s Kits are so bright and fun…perfect for a beach photo!  I had to have the April Color Add-On Kit, because I wanted to try out the Prima Watercolor Pencils.  And they worked great on the Heidi Swapp Die Cut Watercolor Paper!

I thought the HS Die Cut Watercolor Paper, would be perfect for my title and also as a focal point for adding my photo.  Before I adhered it to the Cienna patterned paper, that I used for my background, I used the Prima Watercolor Pencils to add some Pink and Yellow to the Die Cut.  Then I placed the Die Cut in the center of the background and stitched across the phrase.

I wanted to continue the Pink and Yellow color scheme, so I chose embellishments and Thickers from the Main Kit and the Embellishment Add-On Kit.  I framed my photo with the large Yellow chipboard frame from the Rise & Shine collection from Amy Tangerine, and added several embellishments from the Bits and Chipboard pieces, also from the Rise & Shine collection.  After I had everything in place, I added some splatters of Black Color Shine to contrast the minimal color scheme.

Simple Stories | Life Today

This week, Simple Stories teamed up with PageMaps for a fun week of inspiration!  My layout went up on the Simple Stories Blog on Wednesday, and I wanted to pop in and share it with you today.

 

And here is the PageMaps Sketch, that I worked with:

I stayed close to the actual sketch design, and used a lot of bright colors from the Life Documented collection, to add interest to my layout.  I really liked the pops of color, on the clean White cardstock background.  I finished off my layout, with some stitching and small staples from my Tiny Attacher.

Hip Kit Club | Coconut Slushie

Hi everyone!  I've got a new layout to share with you today for Hip Kit Club!  This is my 5th layout using the March 2015 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits, and I've still got a ton of product left to use!  This week when I went through my March Kit & Add-On Kits, I knew I wanted to use several of the patterned papers.  These kits are so full of goodies, that even on my 5th layout for this month, I still had so much to choose from!  The first paper I pulled out to work with is from the Dear Lizzy Serendipity collection.  I loved the two shades of Pink on the Plus patterned paper and knew it would coordinate with the color in my photo.  And I wanted to do something fun with it, other than just using it as is on my layout.  So I decided to cut larger Plus shapes from the paper, and arrange them in a vertical design on my layout, above and below my photo!

Once I had an idea of how I would arrange my photo and the Plus shapes, I decided to add some more of the patterned papers to the outer edges of the White cardstock, from the Cardstock Add-On Kit.  I chose the We R Memory Keepers Pink text paper and two of the patterned papers from Crate Paper.  I cut different sized strips from the three papers and then stitched through the two on the outer edges.

Since my layout took on a vertical design, I also arranged my title vertically.  I used the Everyday Thickers from the March Embellishment Add-On to create my title, alongside the photo.  And I wanted to add in one more pattern, so I fussy cut some of the cut flowers from the My Mind's Eye Garden Party patterned paper.  I kept the embellishments a little more minimal on this layout, since I used so many patterns and colors, but I still managed to use some of the Crate Paper chipboard pieces, MME Enamel Dots, Elle's Studio Wood Venner and a tag from the March Project Life Add-On!

A Flair For Buttons | Today Is the Day

Don't you love it, when an idea for a layout actually translates onto paper, exactly the way you imagined it!!  I've had this idea of creating a layered heart, floating around for a while and I finally sat down to create a layout using the design!  Because the layered heart was the main focal point of my design, I didn't want to cover it with my photos and embellishments.  So I decided to take a fun approach, and arrange my photos, embellishments and Flair Buttons around the perimeter of the die cut hearts.  I thought the Wood Words Flair set paired perfectly with the Crate Paper products that I used on my layout...plus it's one of my most favorite sets from the A Flair for Buttons Shop!!

I added the Flair Buttons around three points of the heart shape.  They help to draw your eye around the design, making sure that your eye goes to the photos and around the heart shape, to get a look at all of the embellishments.  And since all three of the Flair Buttons are from the same set, it helps add a cohesive look to the layout.
 
This type of design, would be fun to use with a lot of shapes.  You're not just limited to hearts...how about a circle, hexagon, triangle, or diamond!  And I went with three Flair Buttons for this layout, but this would be a great way to get a lot of your favorite Flair added to a layout!

If you're looking for a great set of Flair to use on your next layout or project, I highly recommend the Wood Words Flair!  I think I'm going to have to request another pack myself, because I've pretty much used all of the ones I had, in this set!!
