Life.Paper.Scrapbook | Somewhere Over the Rainbow

We have our new Sketch reveal for October up at Life.Paper.Scrapbook!  Team A shared their layouts yesterday on the Blog and today, it's Team B's turn.  This Sketch had me a little stumped at first, but I kept thinking about it and finally worked out what I wanted to do.  And if any of you follow me on Facebook, you know, that I posted several times over the Summer that all of the beautiful rainbow photos everyone posted, were just taunting me.  We had plenty of rain, but I could never get lucky enough to see a rainbow and get it photographed.  Finally, at the beginning of September, I got my chance!  We were riding home from my daughter's afternoon piano lesson and a rainbow started to form right in front of us, as we were driving.  It just happened to be over a field, so of course I had to pull over on the side of the road and start snapping photos.  I'm sure there were many people driving by, wondering what the crazy lady was taking photos of, in the downpour!!  :)  Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera and I had to use the camera on my phone.  Not the greatest pictures, but I still managed to get some decent shots.  And the coolest part was, that it was a full double rainbow, and we could actually see the end of it, in front of the trees out in the field.

I almost decided not to use these photos for the Sketch, because the sky was still pretty dark behind the rainbow, and I just couldn't figure out what papers to pair with them.  I eventually decided to try the new Polka Dot Party collection from Dear Lizzy, and I loved the end result.  I used the Magical Moments patterned paper for my background, because it offered a neutral look, but still had a cute border around the page and a misted look on the left hand side.  And I just had to use some type of rainbow colors on my layout, so I stitched the word "rain" in four different colors, using the Amy Tangerine stitching template.

Our Sponsor for this month's Sketch Challenge is StudioFourteen40:

Studio Fourteen40 is an exciting new business who made their debut into the paper-craft scene in September this year. Owner and designer, Sandra Allan is ecstatic that her 'baby' generated so much interest and excitement within such a short time.

Sandra, who lives with her husband Matt and their three children in Melbourne, Australia has a keen eye for detail and a love of design and colour. Having worked within the industry and alongside some amazing talent, Sandra had a deep seeded dream to launch her own collection of scrapbooking embellishments and make her own mark on the industry, eventually taking the plunge and giving birth to Studio Fourteen40.

Whilst it is early days at Studio Fourteen40 and Sandra has 13 collections of tin button flairs released, there are plenty more on the drawing board. Sandra has grand dreams for her business and cannot wait to share more of her designs and release other embellishments into her line.
