Creative Scrappers Sketch 272

You may notice something different about today's Creative Scrappers reveal...a no photo sketch!  This one definitely threw me for a loop!!  It's only the second time I've created a no photo layout, but it is always fun to try something different.

Since this sketch was a little more challenging for me, I decided to use an 8.5x11 format.  One of the benefits of changing to the 8.5x11 size, as being able to run my paper through the printer for my journaling.

You can play along with Sketch 272 for the chance to win from our Sponsor, Paper Camellia.  Link up on the Creative Scrappers Blog for Sketch 272 by the deadline, July 31st.

Hip Kit Club | Fun in the Sun

I have a new layout and card to share today for Hip Kit Club, using the June 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits!  This was one of those layouts that had a major disaster, but I just went with it and I think everything turned out okay in the end.  I had the layout almost completely finished and decided to add some Color Shine.  After a few sprinkles, I started doing something else, and then picked up the bottle to add some more drops.  I always shake my bottle before using it, and so out of habit I shook it again...and never closed the cap from last time.  UGH!  Color Shine went all over my page, the photo on the right, my desk, my mouse, my mouse pad, my phone, and my table.  It was a mess!!  But I was able to get the photo off and reprint it.  There wasn't much I could do about the background paper, so I just decided that some big drops of Color Shine were okay, and that I could live with it!!

I love that we received the Elle's Studio Shine Bits & Pieces in the June 2014 Hip Kit. There are so many pieces, that they can be used on multiple layouts! I used several pieces from the pack, to create my design on this layout, and still have some leftover. Once I decided on the Elle's products to mix from the Kit, then I pulled in the October Afternoon chipboard arrows and a few stickers from the Echo Park Capture Life sticker sheet. Love how everything coordinates so well together.

I like to play with different colors and patterns, and cards are a perfect way to do this. I paired the American Crafts patterned paper, with the fun Polka Dot paper from Elle's Studio, for the base of my card. And I didn't want to cover up much of the Polka Dot paper, so I created a small cluster, using some of the embellishments and stickers from the June 2014 Hip Kit.

I have one more layout and card to share with you, using the June 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits, and then I'll start sharing my projects using the new July 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits!  Visit the Shop, to purchase your July Hip Kit and Add-On Kits!!

A Flair for Buttons | Nice Catch & a Fish Too!

Hi everyone!  I am stopping in today, to share a new layout created for A Flair for Buttons!  I love looking at projects from fellow scrapbookers, and sometimes something catches your eye, that you know you have to use on a layout.  I spotted a great page by Melanie Blackburn, using the negative chipboard piece, that was leftover from some of her embellishments.  I knew right away, I wanted to incorporate the negative chipboard on a layout and thought it would be a great way to add in some flair, in the negative spaces!

I had the leftover Stars & Hearts chipboard piece from the October Afternoon Daily Flash collection.  I placed the chipboard behind my photos and then I used Flair Buttons from the Chalk Words 2 Flair set and the Number Phrases 1 Flair set, in the center of two of the stars.  And the Ampersand Flair Button from the Best Friends Flair set, worked great in my title.

So when you are looking through Galleries and your favorite Blogs, don't be afraid to look for inspiration and then find fun ways to incorporate it into your own layouts.  And then grab those Flair Buttons and make a good layout great, by adding the final finishing embellishments!

Stop by the A Flair for Buttons shop to check out the Flair Buttons I used on this layout!!

Get It Scrapped! & Hip Kit Club and Elle's Studio Blog Hop WINNER!!

Today, I am sharing my final layout as a Creative Team member for Get It Scrapped!  Before I get to my layout, I wanted to announce the WINNER from the Hip Kit Club & Elle's Studio Blog Hop...sorry, I'm a day late!!  :)

CONGRATS SHERI TWING!

Sheri, please contact me at ashleyhorton010675@gmail.com, for more info on receiving your prize!

The Get It Scrapped! Team is sharing inspiration on scrapbooking Water Play, on the Blog today.  Here's a look at the layout I created:

Since we live so far South, it's always nice to enjoy the beach or any kind of water play during the hot summer months.  I wanted to use this photo of our daughter from a beach trip last year, and create a large photo on my layout.  I used an 8.5x11 page format and printed my photo at home, to fit across the page.  I added my title to the White space on the photo and also layered embellishments on the photo.  At the bottom of my layout, I created a wave effect, by using a die cut background, created by Paige Evans, and backed it with a Blue patterned paper.

For more fun water play layouts, make sure you visit the Get It Scrapped! Blog, to see what the other Team members created!

I couldn't wait to get my hands on the new Shine collection and I was beyond excited when I found out that it would be in the June Hip Kits!  Here's a look at what I created!

I love the mix of patterns, colors and wood veneers in the Shine collection!  It's perfect for all of your Summer photos and works for your everyday layouts too!  I also incorporated the Tricky Triangles background cut file, from my Etsy store, The Cut Shoppe.  Instead of using the full background, I resized one of the triangles into different sizes and then just individually placed them on the layout, and added some stitching.

Hip Kit Club | Outtakes

I'm here today to share a new layout and card for Hip Kit Club, using the June 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits!  I decided to use some of the outtake photos on my layout, from our 5 year old photo shoot with our crazy little guy.  And believe me, there were plenty of outtake photos!

Using a photo film strip design is a great way to showcase your out take photos. I edited my photos and turned them Black & White. I love the contrast of the Black & White photos, with the different colors from the Echo Park Capture Life paper, included in the June 2014 Main Kit. I also thought it would be fun to create motion on my page, by following the diagonal design. I used the Dear Lizzy Thickers from the June 2014 Main Kit for my title, and created a row of arrows with the October Afternoon Flash Chip pack from the June 2014 Embellishment Kit.

And I also have a fun card to share, created from the June 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits.

When I sit down to make a card, I usually grab White cardstock for my base. But there are always so many great colors in the Cardstock Add-On Kit, that I decided to do something different for this card. The saturated Pink cardstock worked really well with the touch of Gold in the American Crafts Thickers, that I used for my sentiment. And I paired a touch of the wood grain paper at the top and bottom of my card for contrast, and I think it gives the card a cool, retro vibe!

And it's already time for the reveal of the July 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits!  Make sure you stop by the Hip Kit Blog to check out the reveal and here is a look at each of the Kits for July!!

 July 2014 Embellishment Add-On Kit

American Crafts | Summer Bucket List Mini Album

Most of us have time to snap photos during the Summer, but not always a lot of time to sit down and scrapbook those photos.  So why not get ahead of the game and create a pre-made Summer mini album for all of the photos you'll be taking this year.  Once things settle down, you can just print off your photos and your album will be waiting to be filled.  I created a Summer Bucket List album for American Crafts, and wanted to stop in and share it with you today!  The new #Summer collection worked perfectly for my album.

If you would like more information on how I created my mini album, make sure you visit this post on the American Crafts Blog for the album tutorial and to see the full supply list.

American Crafts June Gallery | Hi 5

On June 1st our youngest celebrated his 5th birthday.  I always like to take a photo of each of the kids on their birthday, so we did a little photo shoot.  Let's just say that his idea of taking a good photo and my idea of taking a good photo, are totally different!  So I just snapped away, and then looked through all of the photos later, to see if there was one that I could actually use.  Thankfully, I did get a great shot...even though he wasn't looking directly at the camera.  But the smile was great and he had his hand up to represent age 5, so I went with it!

I wanted to create a happy page for this photo...without a birthday theme.  I'm not overly fond of creating birthday themed pages.  It's just this weird thing I have!  So I knew that the Plus One collection by Amy Tangerine from American Crafts was just what I needed for this page!

Like most scrappers, I can't bring myself to throw away the manufacturer strips at the bottom of the patterned paper.  They definitely come in handy, so I always keep them with the collection.  I grabbed the Buddy patterned paper and immediately knew that a diagonal design would be in the works.  I used the manufacturer strips along the diagonal line of the background paper, and added in some Thickers and die cuts, with the manual die set.  I also used the arrow stamp from the Acrylic Stamp set and stamped on a few of the paper strips.  I added my title over my photo, with some clustering on the corner.  And I finished my layout, by fussy cutting the heart shapes and stitching down the center of each one.

So next time you are choosing patterned papers for a project, make sure to save the manufacturer strips!  There are a lot of fun, creative ways you can use them on your paper projects!
